A fire protection maintenance company looks after extinguishers and other equipment installed at a large number of client sites. Each item has its own schedule: periodic inspection, servicing and the collaudo (pressure test). Every visit has to be recorded in the registro dei controlli (the inspection logbook), which the client must be able to produce on request.

Kept on paper or in spreadsheets, this tracking is fragile: a missed due date, an incomplete logbook, a technician sent to work on equipment they are not qualified for. On top of that, technicians often work on sites where mobile coverage is patchy, so the tool had to work without a connection and never lose a single entry.

BarkelTech designed two applications that share the same database and the same calculation engine. The office works from a web dashboard covering clients, sites, equipment, route planning, technician qualifications, printable QR labels, reports emailed to clients, and Excel import and export.

Technicians use an iOS and Android app built for the field. They open the day's route, arrive on site, scan the equipment's QR code (or type in the code printed underneath) and sign off a compliant inspection in a single tap. A fault can be documented with a photo, a replacement or the client's signature. All of the company's data is copied to the phone and synced as soon as the network comes back, and due dates are recalculated on the device itself using the same engine as the server. Security relies on role-based access rules enforced at database level, for administrators, office staff, technicians and clients.
